Frequently Asked Questions


What is included in the rental price?
          Mount Airy Mansion is pleased to offer you a full eight-hour rental. Unlike other venues we host only one event per day. You will not be rushed in or out for any other event taking place on your day. Your eight hours begins when your first guest arrives and concludes when the reception ends. This is especially helpful if you are planning to have both your ceremony and reception at Mount Airy. Set-up and breakdown costs are included in your catering staff costs, not as part of your mansion rental fee. Included in your rental is the first floor of the mansion, the formal garden ceremony site, one changing suite plus 150 white folding chairs and 15 5' round tables. Extra chairs and tables will be included in the catering price. Chair upgrades are available but do not apply to the folding chairs supplied by Mt. Airy. One extra changing suite and a separate babysitting room (equipped with a DVD player and toy box) are available at an additional charge. Guests of Mount Airy must provide their own babysitting service.


Does Mount Airy Mansion offer wedding packages?
          No. Mount Airy Mansion and Pineapple Alley Catering are pleased to offer each bride and groom the opportunity to customize their wedding down to the last detail. Each client designs their own menu. Every menu is different and reflects your particular tastes whether it is traditional, ethnic, multi-cultural or regional, thus allowing for a truly unique and special day. The wedding of your dreams can become a reality at Mount Airy Mansion.


What is included in the catering price range?
          The average price for catering is $100 per guest and varies with menu selection, rental equipment, service style and bar cost. Rental equipment includes linens, china, silver flatware, crystal, etc.. We offer a large selection of rental items from which to choose further adding to the assurance that your wedding day will be like no other. The cost of complete staffing may vary depending on service style and is also included in your catering price range. Our professionally trained staff will provide the same exceptional service that you would extend to guests in your own home.


What are the bride and groom responsible for providing?
          The bride and groom are responsible for providing their own decorations (flowers, table centerpieces, etc.), wedding cake, music and photography. We will be happy to provide vendor referrals and recommendations upon request.


Does Pineapple Alley Catering have tastings?
          Yes. Tastings are only for clients with signed contacts. The tasting includes two guests. Additional guests are welcome at $20.00 per guest. Reservations for the number of guests attending must be made one week prior to the scheduled dates. Tastings are held at Mount Airy Mansion and start promptly at 6:30 pm. Call 301-856-1954 to schedule your tasting date. The purpose of the tasting is to allow each client the opportunity to experience the same level of fine food and excellent service that will be provided at your event. It is also an opportunity for you to form new friendships and to network with other couples planning their wedding at Mount Airy Mansion.
